1. How do I apply for a Building Permit?

Apply for your permit by using the Citizenserve Online Portal. Plans for Building Permits should be uploaded to the portal with your application.

2. How long does it take to obtain a permit?

Residential permit reviews take approximately 10-14 days to complete.  Commercial permit reviews take approximately 14-21 days.

3. Is a permit required for concrete flat work?

Yes, permits are required for driveway and right-of-way work by our Public Works Department.  Contact Public Works at 636-695-4221 for information on required permits.  No permit is needed for patios or non-driveway related slabs.

4. Is a permit required for a roof replacement?

A permit is not required for a roof replacement.  

5. Is an ice and water shield required when replacing a roof?

Ice and water shield is not required unless required by the manufacturer.

6. Is drip edge required when replacing a roof?

Yes, drip edge is required.

7. Can I schedule a specific time for my inspection?

Inspections are schedule on an AM (9am-12pm) or PM (1pm-4pm).  Inspections must be called in by 3:30 pm on the proceeding business day for a next day inspection. 

8. Can I perform the work under the permit myself?

Work of a minor nature within a home does not require a licensed contractor, however, if excessive violations are noted at the time of the inspection, a licensed professional may be required.

Fences are generally not allowed in Lake Saint Louis unless you have an in-ground swimming pool with a few exeptions.  The Residenctial Fence Map (PDF) shows where you may have a fence in Lake Saint Louis.  A permit is required prior to installing a fence in your yard.
