CANDIDATE FILING INFORMATION
DECLARATION OF CANDIDACY
FOR OFFICE
The City of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri will hold a Municipal Election, Tuesday, April 6, 2021 for the purpose of electing a Mayor for a four-year term and one (1) Alderman to serve a two-year term from each of the City’s three (3) Wards.
Candidate filing for the April 6, 2021 election opens at 8 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2020 and closes at 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2021. City Hall office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Qualifications for Mayor:
No person shall be Mayor unless he/she be at least twenty-five (25) years of age, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the City at the time of and for at least one (1) year next preceding his/her election.
Qualifications for Alderman:
No person shall be an Alderman unless he or she be at least eighteen (18) years of age, a citizen of the United States, and an inhabitant and resident of the City for one (1) year next preceding his or her election, and a resident, at the time he or she files and during the time he or she serves, of the ward from which he or she is elected.
Filing Procedures
Any person wanting to declare their candidacy for office shall file a Notice of Intention to Run with the City Clerk at City Hall, 200 Civic Center Drive, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except that the first day for said filing shall begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Such notice shall set forth the name of the candidate, address, age, length of residence and the office for which they are running. Filing will close at 5 p.m. on January 19, 2021. Only those names of candidates received by 5 p.m. on January 19, 2021 shall be placed on the ballot.
Candidates that file on the first day (December 15, 2020) and the last day (January 19, 2021), their order of filing will be determined by random drawing. Candidates filing from December 16, 2020 through January 18, 2021 will appear on the ballot in the order in which their written declaration of candidacy for office is filed with the City Clerk’s office.
