[ARCHIVED] Lake Saint Louis Temporarily Halts New Applications for Multi-Family Housing

LSL Temp Halts Apps for Multi-Family

LAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO June 21, 2022 – The City of Lake Saint Louis has imposed a 90-day moratorium to temporarily halt the acceptance and processing of new applications associated with the development or construction of new multi-family housing. The temporary moratorium was approved by a unanimous vote of the Board of Aldermen at the June 20, 2022, Board of Aldermen Meeting.

Mayor Jason Law said the purpose of the temporary moratorium is to give city leaders an opportunity to research and assess the impacts of future multi-housing development on infrastructure, public safety, traffic congestion, and neighborhood characteristics, among other conditions.

“Our goal is to ensure responsible growth without compromising access to City services and resources,” said Mayor Jason Law. “The Board of Aldermen and I want to make sure that Lake Saint Louis can accommodate and support the future infrastructure needs for these types of development projects.”

The moratorium will be in effect for 90 days, beginning June 20, 2022. It will not apply to currently submitted applications that are pending approval, nor does it affect approvals or permits previously issued by the City.
