The Lake Saint Louis Police Department has established the Bicycle Patrol Unit for the purpose of enhancing patrol efforts in the community. Bicycle patrol has been shown to be an effective way to increase officer visibility and mobility in congested areas. A bicycle's quiet operation can provide a tactical approach to crimes in progress. Bicycle Officers are more approachable and accessible to the public, which allows for an increase in direct citizen contact and lends to positive police interaction with the public and the Community Policing initiative. Lake Saint Louis Officers who have completed the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) training are assigned to the bicycle unit.
