The City of Lake Saint Louis through a grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources has constructed a rain garden and bioretention area demonstration project within Boulevard Park. Rain gardens slow water flow, minimize flooding, and improve water quality in rivers and lakes.
The City would like to remind you that there are ways to be environmentally friendly to our lakes and streams while the temperatures are below freezing. Snow melt and stormwater runoff in areas with salt-treated surfaces such as driveways and sidewalks can carry sodium and calcium chlorides into our waterways.
An Illicit Discharge is any runoff to the ground or into a storm sewer that is not made up entirely of stormwater. Illicit Discharge is harmful because untreated stormwater runoff can contribute high levels of pollutants into receiving waterbodies, degrade water quality and threaten aquatic, wildlife, and human health.
